GIS Standards

The City of Charlotte is working on a body of GIS standards that will go through a formal adoption process.  We have conducted research on GIS standards as part of this effort to ensure alignment with state and federal standards.  What a task!

To date, the following standards have been developed and adopted:

  • GIS Software
  • Geospatial Data Properties
  • Grid Reference System: US National Grid

There are 10 others that are in various phases of development.  We are happy to share this list too and are interested in what others are doing to develop pragmatic standards.  Please join the discussion!
