Registration Opens for GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference
November 14, 2007 (Park Ridge, Illinois) - The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) are pleased to announce the 12th Annual GIS/CAMA (Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal) Technologies Conference, to be held February 25-28, 2008 in New Orleans. This conference is designed to foster collaboration and integration of data, technology, and functionality.
The 2007 conference, in Las Vegas, broke the previous attendance record (coincidentally in New Orleans in 1999) and there are great expectations for another record-breaking event in 2008. Discounted registration fees for exhibitors and attendees are in effect until the end of this year.
The conference begins with a choice of three optional full-day workshops:
- Introduction to GIS & Assessment
- Introduction to Valuation & Spatial Analysis
- GIS Program Management
Tuesday through Thursday, attendees may choose from three program tracks (Management Issues & Case Studies, CAMA Modeling, and Systems & Data Integration). Sessions have been developed on a variety of important topics like these:
- External Forces Affecting Assessments Worldwide: This session sheds light on external factors such as political change and the current foreclosure crisis in the real estate market that affect the assessment process.
- Designing Interoperability into the System: This session will provide an overview of the value of designing an integrated GIS and CAMA application. From an introduction to interoperability, to workflow effects, and the creation of an integrated land record system, attendees will learn how to design and implement integrated applications.
- The Challenges and Triumphs of Reappraising New Orleans: Hear from a team of experts managing the New Orleans reappraisal. Learn about planning and execution of a full-scale mass appraisal effort currently underway in Orleans Parish.
New Volunteer Event - Conference attendees will have the opportunity to help New Orleans’ rebuilding efforts both before and after the conference. Two hands-on volunteer projects are in the works that will give attendees the opportunity to pay New Orleans back for hosting the conference again this year.
Continuing Education Credit: IAAO professional designees will earn 7 hours of recertification credit for attendance at a Preconference Workshop and 10 hours for attendance at all sessions of the regular conference program. GISCI Certification points earned for attending one workshop and this conference = .4 GISCI education points.
