ULA Session 5 - Putting it all Together Evaluating Where You Are and Planning Where You're Going

This integrative session will provide the perspective that GIS leaders often find themselves in the middle of GIS situations where they must determine how to move forward effectively. As a GIS leader, you may have been brought in specifically to solve a problem or fix a situation, or you may just be in the middle of the normal GIS life cycle. Topics covered to bring it all together include:

Geospatial Strategic Planning in Context
- Don't stop at knowing where you want to go, you have to have a logical plan of how you will get there.

Situation Assessment
- Learn to not only identify the problem, but to analyze it and solve it in both implementation and operational phases

Solving Problems and Taking Corrective Action
- Develop your course correction by planning out your approach to solving problems and getting your project back on track.

Trend Spotting, GIS as an Integrative Tool
- Learn the importance of Organizational Consensus and how it should extend into your strategic plan, work methods and technologies.

Being Effective: Getting the Job Done and Communicating Success
-Gain insight into understanding management and the needs of working in a political world.

Instructors for Session 5 include:

 - Rebecca Somers, GISP, Somers St Claire GIS Management Consultants
- Martha Wells, GISP, Spatial Focus Inc
- Sara Yurman, GISP, Spatial Focus Inc
